Το Graphic Stories Cyprus καλεί όλους τους δημιουργικούς να λάβουν μέρος στο διεθνή διαγωνισμό αφίσας με τίτλο “Γραφή, το έναυσμα του πολιτισμού” και να δουν το έργο τους τυπωμένο δημιουργώντας τη δική τους card postal. Ο διεθνής διαγωνισμός εντάσσεται στο πλαίσιο του 4ου Συνεδρίου Οπτικής Επικοινωνίας Κύπρου που θα πραγματοποιηθεί το τριήμερο από 09-11 Μαρτίου 2018.

Δημιουργικό σκεπτικό

Ελάχιστα από τα επιτεύγματα της ανθρώπινης σοφίας μπορούν να συγκριθούν με αυτό της δημιουργίας της γραφής. Η σοφία αυτή, που ως κριτήριο διαχώρισε τον άνθρωπο από τα υπόλοιπα έμβια όντα του πλανήτη, άρχισε να μετουσιώνεται σε πολιτισμό, με τη σύγχρονή του έννοια, περίπου το 5.000 π.Χ. όταν και έκανε την εμφάνισή της η πρώτη πραγματική γραφή. Με τον όρο πραγματική γραφή εννοούμε εκείνη στην οποία το περιεχόμενο μιας γλωσσικής έκφρασης κωδικοποιείται με τέτοιον τρόπο, ώστε ένας άλλος αναγνώστης να μπορεί να ανοικοδομήσει, με ένα σχετικό βαθμό ακριβείας, αυτή καθ’αυτή τη φράση που έχει γραφτεί. Ενώ στις πρώιμες, προγενέστερες γραφές η μη κωδικοποίηση γραμματικών λέξεων, καθιστούσε πολύ δύσκολη ή ακόμα και αδύνατη την ανασύσταση της ακριβούς έννοιας που επιδίωκε ο εκάστοτε συγγραφέας, το μεγάλο άλμα στην εξέλιξη της γραφής επιτεύχθηκε περίπου τον 8ο αιώνα π.Χ. από τους αρχαίους Έλληνες, οι οποίοι στηριζόμενοι στη Φοινικική γραφή της εποχής δημιούργησαν το πρώτο πραγματικό αλφάβητο. Τα σύμβολα, τα ιδεογράμματα και οι εικόνες έδωσαν τη θέση τους στα γράμματα. Η σκέψη και ο λόγος έγιναν γραφή και το αφηρημένο απέκτησε υπόσταση. Οι ήχοι, οι φθόγγοι, τα σύμφωνα και τα φωνήεντα του προφορικού λόγου κωδικοποιήθηκαν, απόκτησαν μορφή και αποτυπώθηκαν με κάθε μέσον ως κληροδότημα για τις επόμενες γενεές. Το θέμα του διαγωνισμού “Γραφή, το έναυσμα του πολιτισμού”, αλλά και η αντίστοιχη έκθεση έχουν ως στόχο να αναδείξουν και να προβάλουν τη σημασία της γραφής σε σχέση με τον πολιτισμό, τα γράμματα και τις τέχνες, τόσο σε τοπικό, όσο και σε παγκόσμιο επίπεδο, καθώς και τη σπουδαιότητά της στην μέχρι τώρα εξέλιξη αλλά και μελλοντική πορεία της ανθρωπότητας. Οι συμμετέχοντες στο διαγωνισμό καλούνται να οπτικοποιήσουν τις σκέψεις και τις ιδέες τους σε σχέση με τη συμβολή της γραφής στην δημιουργία του εκάστοτε πολιτισμού αλλά και τον ρόλο που έχει διαδραματίσει στην εξέλιξή του.

Ο διαγωνισμός θα περιλαμβάνει τις εξής κατηγορίες:

1. Διεθνής διάκριση για επαγγελματίες σχεδιαστές οπτικής επικοινωνίας
Έπαθλο: Γραμματοσειρές αξίας 500 ευρώ από την εταιρεία Parachute &
300ευρώ χρηματικό έπαθλο από την Τράπεζα Κύπρου

2. Διεθνής διάκριση για φοιτητές / σπουδαστές οπτικής επικοινωνίας
Έπαθλο: Γραμματοσειρές αξίας 500 ευρώ από την εταιρεία Parachute &
300ευρώ χρηματικό έπαθλο από την Τράπεζα Κύπρου

3. Κυπριακή διάκριση για φοιτητές / σπουδαστές οπτικής επικοινωνίας
Έπαθλο: 200ευρώ χρηματικό έπαθλο από την Τράπεζα Κύπρου

4. Κυπριακή διάκριση για μαθητές Λυκείων & Τεχνικών Σχολών
Έπαθλο: 200ευρώ χρηματικό έπαθλο από την Τράπεζα Κύπρου

Κάθε διαγωνιζόμενος έχει δικαίωμα να καταθέσει ένα και μόνο έργο του.
Η κατάθεση των έργων μπορεί να γίνει μόνο ηλεκτρονικά από τις 10 Οκτωβρίου έως και τις 31 Δεκεμβρίου 2017.

Ο διαγωνισμός δεν θα πάρει παράταση. 

Τεχνικά χαρακτηριστικά

1. Διαστάσεις: Το εικαστικό θα πρέπει να σχεδιαστεί κατακόρυφα (vertical) και να παραδοθεί σε ψηφιακό αρχείο διάστασης 50x70cm για την αφίσα και 10x14cm για το card postal.
2. Format/ Ανάλυση: Το εικαστικό θα πρέπει να έχει ανάλυση 300dpi, color mode CMYK, format .pdf και απαραίτητα να επισυνάπτεται και ένα αρχείο .jpg για χρήση web.
3. Απαραίτητη προϋπόθεση η αναγραφή του τίτλου του διαγωνισμού στα αγγλικά “Writing, the origins of Civilisation” και του λογοτύπου του “Graphic Stories Cyprus” σε κάποιο μέρος της αφίσας.
4. Το λογότυπο του Graphic Stories Cyprus μπορείτε να κατεβάσετε από τo site.
5. Κάθε διαγωνιζόμενος μπορεί να στείλει μία και μόνο συμμετοχή.

Διαδικασία Υποβολής Συμμετοχών

Η υποβολή των έργων ξεκινά στις 10 Οκτωβρίου 2017 και θα ολοκληρωθεί στις 31 Δεκεμβρίου 2017. Ο διαγωνισμός δεν θα πάρει παράταση!
Οι συμμετοχές πρέπει να αποσταλούν ηλεκτρονικά στο email: gsccontest.pr@gmail.com δηλώνοντας στον τίτλο του email την κατηγορία:
1. Διεθνής συμμετοχή: επαγγελματίες σχεδιαστές οπτικής επικοινωνίας
2. Διεθνής συμμετοχή: φοιτητές / σπουδαστές οπτικής επικοινωνίας
3. Κυπριακή συμμετοχή φοιτητές / σπουδαστές οπτικής επικοινωνίας
4. Κυπριακή συμμετοχή μαθητές Λυκείων & Τεχνικών Σχολών.
Οι φοιτητές της Κύπρου μπορούν να συμμετέχουν με το ίδιο έργο και στις δύο κατηγορίες [2, 3]. Απαιτείται να το δηλώσουν κατά την υποβολή της συμμετοχής τους.

Κάθε αρχείο θα πρέπει να έχει ονομασία με τη μορφή: “contest_onoma_epitheto” για τη συμμετοχή του poster στο διαγωνισμό και “cp_onoma_epitheto” για την card postal καθώς και την κατάληξη του αρχείου.

Το e-mail, θα πρέπει να περιλαμβάνει απαραιτήτως τα εξής στοιχεία

1. στο θέμα να αναγράφεται ο τίτλος: “2nd Contest GSC - Writing” και η κατηγορία στην οποία υποβάλλεται το έργο όπως αναφέρεται πιο πάνω
2. την αφίσα 50x70cm και την προσαρμογή της για το card postal 10x14cm όπως αναφέρεται πιο πάνω
3. όνομα - επίθετο
4. ιδιότητα
5. διεύθυνση
6. τηλέφωνο επικοινωνίας
7. την ακόλουθη δήλωση: “Τα στοιχεία που χρησιμοποιήθηκαν για την δημιουργία του έργου μου είναι πρωτότυπα και δεν περιλαμβάνουν πνευματικά δικαιώματα τρίτων. Με τη συμμετοχή μου στο διαγωνισμό παραχωρώ το δικαίωμα της ελεύθερης χρήσης του έργου μου στους διοργανωτές του Graphic Stories Cyprus.”
8. το έργο κάθε σχεδιαστή να συνοδεύεται από μια σύντομη περιγραφή.

Όροι

1. Οι συμμετοχές οι οποίες ΔΕΝ έχουν όλα τα στοιχεία τους συμπληρωμένα ή ΔΕΝ τηρούν τους όρους του διαγωνισμού ΔΕΝ θα θεωρούνται έγκυρες.
2. Δεν επιτρέπεται η δημόσια προβολή των υποβληθέντων έργων πριν από την ανακοίνωση των νικητών.
3. Οι διακριθέντες δημιουργοί θα ανακοινωθούν δημοσίως κατά την ημέρα των εγκαινίων της έκθεσης.
4. Συμμετοχές των οποίων το περιεχόμενο μπορεί να θεωρηθεί προσβλητικό ή υβριστικό ή δεν έχουν σχέση με το θέμα του διαγωνισμού δεν θα θεωρούνται έγκυρες.
5. Οι νικητές και οι διακριθέντες σχεδιαστές παραχωρούν το δικαίωμα της ελεύθερης χρήσης του διακριθέντος έργου από τους διοργανωτές του Graphic Stories Cyprus, με την υπογραφή του δημιουργού.
6. Τα δώρα παραλαμβάνονται κατόπιν απευθείας συνεννόησης των νικητών με τους χορηγούς μας.
7. Οι διοργανωτές και η κριτική επιτροπή κατόπιν συνεννόησης διατηρούν το δικαίωμα ακύρωσης του διαγωνισμού.
8. Τα διαγωνιζόμενα έργα δεν θα πρέπει να περιέχουν προσωπικές πληροφορίες των δημιουργών στο εικαστικό.
9. Δικαίωμα συμμετοχής στο διαγωνισμό έχουν φοιτητές και επαγγελματίες σχεδιαστές οπτικής επικοινωνίας για το Διεθνές Διαγωνιστικό. Φοιτητές και μαθητές λυκείων και τεχνικών σχολών για το Κυπριακό Διαγωνιστικό.
10. Στο διαγωνισμό δεν μπορούν να λάβουν μέρος οι συντελεστές, οι δημιουργικοί συντελεστές καθώς και η κριτική επιτροπή του Graphic Stories Cyprus, εξαιρούνται οι εθελοντές

Όλα τα έγκυρα σχέδια που θα λάβουμε θα τυπωθούν σε card postal διάστασης 10x14cm και θα μοιραστούν στο κοινό κατά το τριήμερο των εκδηλώσεων.

Οι 50 καλύτερες αφίσες θα εκτεθούν στο Πολιτιστικό Ίδρυμα της Τράπεζας Κύπρου και τα εγκαίνια θα πραγματοποιηθούν στις 9 Μαρτίου 2018 αμέσως μετά τις διαλέξεις του Συνεδρίου.

 Graphic Stories Cyprus invites all the creative people to take part in the international poster contest titled "Writing, the origins of Civilization" and to see their work printed by creating their own postal card. The international contest is part of the 4th Visual Communication Conference in Cyprus that will take place between 9-11 of March 2018.

The creative idea

Few of the achievements of human wisdom can be compared to the creation of writing. This wisdom, which separated him from the rest of the living beings on the planet, began to transform its environment creating civilization, in its modern sense, around 5000 BC. when the first real writing was invented. By the term writing we mean the activity in which the content of a linguistic expression is encoded in such a way that another reader can rebuild, with a relative degree of accuracy, the precise phrase that has been written. While, from this point of view in the earlier, first scriptures the non-encoding of grammatical words made it very difficult or even impossible to reconstruct the exact meaning sought by the author, the great leap in the evolution of writing was achieved around the 8th century BC. by the ancient Greeks, who based on the Phoenician writing of the time, created the first real alphabet. Symbols, ideograms and images have given their place to the letters. Thought and speech converted to writing and the abstract gained substance. The sounds, the phonemes, the consonants, and the vowels of speech were codified, acquired form and imprinted by every means as a bequest for the next generations. The theme of the contest, "Writing, the origins of Civilization", and the corresponding exhibition are actions that aim at highlighting and promoting the importance of writing in relation to culture, literature and arts, both locally and globally, as well as the importance in the evolution and future development of humankind. The creatives participating in the contest are invited to visualize their thoughts and ideas in relation to the contribution of writing in the creation of each and any civilization and the role it has played in its development.

1. International distinction for professional visual communication designers

2. International distinction for higher education students (university or college) of visual communication

3. Cypriot distinction for higher education students (university or college) of visual communication

Prize: 200 euro in cash from the Bank of Cyprus



4. Cypriot distinction for Lyceum and Technical School students

Prize: 200 euro in cash from the Bank of Cyprus

The submission of projects can only be done electronically by email from the 10th of October until the 31st of December 2017.

The contest will not be extended!

Specifications

1. Size: The theme should be vertically designed (portrait) and delivered as a digital file. The dimensions must be 50x70cm for the poster and 10x14cm for the card postal
2. Format / Resolution: The design should have 300dpi resolution, color mode CMYK, format .pdf and is necessary to attach a jpg file for use in the web.
3. A prerequisite is to indicate the title of the contest in English “Writing, the origins of Civilization” and the "Graphic Stories Cyprus" logo in some place in the poster.
4. The logo of Graphic Stories Cyprus can be downloaded from our site.
5. Each participant can submit only one design.

Submission Procedure

The submission of the projects starts on the 10th of October 2017 and will end on the 31st of December 2017. Entries must be sent by email to: gsccontest.pr@gmail.com stating in the title of the email the category of participation as follows:
1. International participation: professional visual communication designers
2. International participation: higher education students of visual communication
3. Cypriot participation: higher education students of visual communication
4. Cypriot participation: high school and technical school students Higher education Students in Cyprus can participate with the same project in both categories [2, 3].
They are required to state it when submitting their participation.
Each file should be named following the scheme "contest_name_surname" for the poster participating in the contest and "cp_name_surname" for the card postal, as well as the file extension.

Terms

1. Entries that do NOT have all the required information filled in or do not respect the conditions of the contest will NOT be considered valid.
2. The public display of the submitted works is not allowed prior to the announcement of the winners.
3. The distinguished artists will be announced publicly on the day of the opening of the exhibition.
4. Participation whose content can be considered offensive or insulting or unrelated to the theme of the contest will not be considered valid.
5. The winners and distinguished designers grant the right of free use of their project to the organizers of Graphic Stories Cyprus, with the signature of the author.
6. The prizes will be given to the winners directly from our sponsors.
7. The organizers and the jury reserve the right to cancel the contest.
8. The submitted projects should not contain personal information of the designers.
9. The contest is open to higher education students and professional visual communication designers for the International Contest. Higher education students and students of lyceums and technical schools for the Cypriot Contest.
10. The contributors, creative contributors and the members of the jury of Graphic Stories Cyprus can not participate at the contest, volunteers are excluded.

All valid projects received will be printed as card postal, 10x14cm, and will be given to the public of Graphic Stories Cyprus during the three-day event.
The best 50 posters will be exhibited at the Bank of Cyprus Cultural Foundation and the inauguration will take place on March 9, 2018, immediately after the Conferences' lectures.
