Κύπρος και Ελλάδα εκπροσωπούνται δυναμικά στο World Industrial Design Conference (WIDC) 2024 από το Graphic Stories

Με ιδιαίτερη τιμή ανακοινώνουμε τη συμμετοχή μας στο World Industrial Design Conference (WIDC) 2024, όπου κληθήκαμε ως επίσημοι εκπρόσωποι της Κύπρου και της Ελλάδας, παρουσιάζοντας το έργο και τις δράσεις μας στον κλάδο του σχεδιασμού. Το συνέδριο φιλοξενήθηκε από την China Industrial Design Association, το Department of Industry and Information Technology of Shandong Province, και την People's Government of Yantai Municipal.

Με τη συνεργασία οργανισμών, ιδρυμάτων και επιχειρήσεων από 61 χώρες και περιοχές, το WIDC2024 ανέδειξε τις νέες τάσεις και προκλήσεις στον χώρο του βιομηχανικού σχεδιασμού. Το φετινό συνέδριο συγκέντρωσε χιλιάδες εκπροσώπους από όλο τον κόσμο, συμπεριλαμβανομένων της Γερμανίας, της Δανίας, της Ιαπωνίας κ.λπ., για να συζητήσουν το μέλλον του ευφυούς σχεδιασμού, τις νέες τεχνολογίες, καθώς και τη διακυβέρνηση της παγκόσμιας βιομηχανίας με κεντρικό θέμα «Σχεδιασμός: Νέες Ποιοτικές Παραγωγικές Δυνάμεις».

Συμμετοχή και Δράσεις μας στο WIDC2024

Κατά τη διάρκεια της έκθεσης (expo), η κυπριακή και ελληνική εκπροσώπηση είχε την τιμή να παρουσιάσει τις δράσεις του Graphic Stories, μέσω προβολής βίντεο που παρουσίαζε τα highlights της δεκαετούς πορείας μας και του ντοκιμαντέρ “Destinat10n”. Παράλληλα, στο περίπτερό μας εκτέθηκαν οι εκδόσεις μας και άλλο επικοινωνιακό υλικό, δίνοντας μια ολοκληρωμένη εικόνα των δημιουργικών μας έργων. Το περίπτερο δημιουργήθηκε και προσφέρθηκε από την οργανωτική ομάδα του WIDC ως φόρος τιμής για την παγκόσμια συμβολή των δράσεων του Graphic Stories. Ο πρόεδρος του WIDC2024 έδειξε ιδιαίτερο ενδιαφέρον για το επίπεδο και την αξία των δράσεών μας και προχώρησε σε ανοιχτή πρόταση συνεργασίας μεταξύ Κύπρου - Ελλάδας και Κίνας, αναγνωρίζοντας την επίδραση του κοινωνικού σχεδιασμού στην ανάπτυξη του κλάδου.

Η Αγγελική Αθανασιάδη, σχεδιάστρια οπτικής επικοινωνίας και ιδρύτρια του ΜΚΟ Graphic Stories, και ο Μίλτος Καρράς, καθηγητής Φυσικής και Ρομποτικής & συντονιστής του ΜΚΟ Graphic Stories, είχαν την τιμή να συμμετέχουν στο opening ceremony ως ομιλητές. Και οι δύο εκπρόσωποι, Αγγελική Αθανασιάδη και Μίλτος Καρράς, έχουν λάβει μέρος σε πολλές παγκόσμιες εκθέσεις αφισών, προσθέτοντας έτσι σημαντική εμπειρία και διεθνή αναγνώριση στον κλάδο του σχεδιασμού.

Κατά τη διάρκεια του συνεδρίου, έγινε τιμητική απονομή στα Συνιδρυτικά Μέλη της Παγκόσμιας Ένωσης Βιομηχανικού Σχεδιασμού - World Industrial Design Association (WIDA). Ανάμεσα στους συνιδρυτές είναι και η Αγγελική Αθανασιάδη, εκπροσωπώντας την Ελλάδα και την Κύπρο, επισημαίνοντας τη συμβολή της στον κλάδο του σχεδιασμού.

Προτάσεις και Συζητήσεις στο Συνέδριο

Κατά τη διάρκεια της Προπαρασκευαστικής Συνάντησης της Παγκόσμιας Ένωσης Βιομηχανικού Σχεδιασμού, οι σύνεδροι συζήτησαν προτάσεις για τη βιομηχανική ανάπτυξη και την οικονομική βιωσιμότητα, με έμφαση στην προώθηση της βιώσιμης ανάπτυξης μέσω του σχεδιασμού. Ιδιαίτερη αναφορά έγινε στη σημασία της διατήρησης και προώθησης του πολιτιστικού σχεδιασμού στο πλαίσιο της UNESCO, τονίζοντας τον ρόλο του ως εργαλείο κοινωνικής και πολιτιστικής ανάπτυξης.

Συζητήθηκε επίσης η αύξηση της χρήσης της AI (Τεχνητή Νοημοσύνη) και ο ρόλος της στον σχεδιασμό του μέλλοντος, με το Graphic Stories να θέτει στο επίκεντρο σημαντικά ζητήματα σχετικά με την ηθική και την υπευθυνότητα στη χρήση της AI στον τομέα του σχεδιασμού. Ανάμεσα στα ηθικά ζητήματα που προκύπτουν με τη χρήση της AI, συζητήθηκε η προστασία της ιδιωτικότητας και των πνευματικών δικαιωμάτων, καθώς και οι επιπτώσεις της AI στην απασχόληση και η ανάγκη για διαφάνεια στη χρήση δεδομένων.

Προοπτικές

Η συμμετοχή μας στο WIDC2024 υπογραμμίζει τη δέσμευσή μας για συνεχή εξέλιξη και ανανέωση στον κλάδο του Design, ενώ μας ανοίγει νέους ορίζοντες συνεργασίας και διαλόγου σε παγκόσμιο επίπεδο. Η δυναμική μας παρουσία στο συνέδριο επιβεβαιώνει τον ρόλο του Graphic Stories ως ένας από τους σημαντικότερους εκπροσώπους της Κύπρου και της Ελλάδας στον χώρο του βιομηχανικού σχεδιασμού.

It is with great honor that we announce our participation in the World Industrial Design Conference (WIDC) 2024, where we were invited as the official representatives of Cyprus and Greece, presenting our work and actions in the field of design. The conference was hosted by the China Industrial Design Association, the Department of Industry and Information Technology of Shandong Province, and the People's Government of Yantai Municipal.

With the collaboration of organizations, institutions, and enterprises from 61 countries and regions, WIDC2024 highlighted the emerging trends and challenges in the field of industrial design. This year’s conference brought together thousands of representatives from around the world, including Germany, Denmark, Japan, and more, to discuss the future of intelligent design, new technologies, and the governance of global industry, under the central theme “Design: New Quality Productive Forces.”

Our Participation and Actions at WIDC2024

During the expo, the Cypriot and Greek representation had the honor of showcasing the actions of Graphic Stories through a video presentation that highlighted our ten-year journey and the documentary “Destinat10n.” Additionally, our booth featured our publications and other promotional material, offering a comprehensive picture of our creative work. The booth was created and offered by the WIDC organizing team as a tribute to the global impact of Graphic Stories' initiatives. The President of WIDC2024 expressed special interest in the level and value of our work and made an open proposal for collaboration between Cyprus and China, recognizing the influence of social design in the development of the sector.

Aggeliki Athanasiadi, visual communication designer and founder and creative director of the Graphic Stories NGO, and Miltos Karras, Physics and Robotics educator & coordinator of the Graphic Stories NGO, had the honor of participating as speakers at the opening ceremony. Both representatives, Aggeliki Athanasiadi and Miltos Karras, have participated in a wide range of international poster exhibitions, further enhancing their experience and earning international recognition in the field of design

Proposals and Discussions at the Conference

During the Preparatory Meeting of the World Industrial Design Association (WIDA), attendees discussed proposals for industrial development and economic sustainability, with an emphasis on promoting sustainable development through design. Special attention was given to the importance of preserving and promoting cultural design within the framework of UNESCO, highlighting its role as a tool for social and cultural development.

The rise of AI (Artificial Intelligence) and its role in the design of the future was also discussed, with Graphic Stories placing a strong focus on significant issues related to the ethics and responsibility of using AI in the design sector. Ethical concerns arising from the use of AI, such as privacy protection and intellectual property rights, were key topics of discussion, along with the impact of AI on employment and the need for transparency in data usage.

Future Prospects

Our participation in WIDC2024 underscores our commitment to continuous development and renewal in the design sector while opening new horizons for collaboration and dialogue at a global level. Our strong presence at the conference reaffirms the role of Graphic Stories as one of the most important representatives of Cyprus and Greece in the field of industrial design.
