Η Οπτική Επικοινωνία μας αφορά όλους!

Ένας θεσμός και ταυτόχρονα σημείο αναφοράς για την Οπτική επικοινωνία, τόσο στην Κύπρο, όσο και στο εξωτερικό, το Graphic Stories, πραγματοποίησε το 9o Διεθνές Συνέδριο Οπτικής Επικοινωνίας με θέμα ΗΔύναμη των Νέων, με μεγάλη επιτυχία το τριήμερο 17-19 Μαρτίου, στη Λευκωσία!

Στο πρόγραμμά του φιλοξένησε εννέα διακεκριμένους σχεδιαστές από Γερμανία, Αγγλία, Ελλάδα & Κύπρο. Περιλάμβανε εννέα διαλέξεις, πέντε δημιουργικά εργαστήρια, προβολή ταινίας animation, διεθνή έκθεση αφίσας με συμμετοχή σχεδιαστών από την Κύπρο και το εξωτερικό και ένα διαδραστικό installationγια το κοινό το οποίο πλαισιώθηκε από χορευτική ομάδα νέων.  

Visual Communication concerns us all!

An established event and at the same time a point of reference for Visual Communication, both in Cyprus and abroad, Graphic Stories, held the 9th International Conference on Visual Communication on the theme The Power of Youth, with great success on the three days of March 17-19, in Nicosia! 

In its program it hosted nine distinguished designers from Germany, England, Greece & Cyprus. It included nine lectures, five creative workshops, a screening of an animation film, an international poster exhibition with the participation of designers from Cyprus and abroad and an interactive installation for the public which was accompanied by a dance group of young people

Εργαστήρια - Διαλέξεις

Το πρόγραμμα του τριημέρου ξεκίνησε με τα εξειδικευμένα δημιουργικά εργαστήρια που ως στόχο είχαν την ανάπτυξη δεξιοτήτων και τον εμπλουτισμό των γνώσεων όσων συμμετείχαν. Tips & Tricks to improvedigital art skills με τον Rob Snow, UX Design & ανθρωποκεντρικός σχεδιασμός, με τον Νίκο Γαζετά και Εκτύπωση Κυανοτυπίας, με την Σοφία Χατζήπαπα. Ανάμεσα σε αυτά και το εργαστήριο ψυχικής ενδυνάμωσης που αφορούσε όποιον είναι ή νιώθει νέος με τίτλο «Στη δύσκολη ερώτηση, οι νέοι έχουν την απάντηση!», με τον Λάκη Αργυρού! Φυσικά δεν έλειψε το καθιερωμένο παιδικό εργαστήρι που μύησε τα παιδιά που συμμετείχαν στην τέχνη του Animation και την έννοια της Οπτικής Επικοινωνίας , με την Παναγιώτα Μιχαήλ. 

Workshops - Lectures

The three-day program began with specialized creative workshops aimed at developing skills and enriching the knowledge of those who participated. Tips & Tricks to improve digital art skills with Rob Snow, UX Design & human-centered design, with Nikos Gazetas and Cyanotype Printing, with Sophia Hadjipapa. Among them, the mental empowerment workshop for anyone who is or feels young entitled "Youth has the answers to difficult questions!", with Lakis Argyrou! Of course, there was the established children's workshop that introduced the children who participated in the art of Animation and the concept of Visual Communication, with Panayiota Michael.

Η συνέχεια δόθηκε στις διαλέξεις του Συνεδρίου. Εκ μέρους του Ευρωπαϊκού Πανεπιστημίου, που φιλοξένησε στους χώρους του όλες τις δράσεις του 9^ου Graphic Stories, απεύθυνε χαιρετισμό ο κος Σταύρος Σταύρου Καραγιάννη, Κοσμήτορας της Σχολής Ανθρωπιστικών Επιστημών, Κοινωνικών επιστημών & Επιστημών της Εκπαίδευσης του Ευρωπαϊκού Πανεπιστημίου Κύπρου. Την παρουσίαση του προγράμματος έκανε η δημοσιογράφος Έλενα Αποστόλου.

The conference lectures followed on Sunday the 19^th. On behalf of the European University Cyprus, which hosted all the actions of the 9th Graphic Stories, Mr. Stavros Stavrou Karayiannis, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities, Social Sciences & Educational Sciences of the European University Cyprus, addressed a greeting. The presentation of the program was made by journalist Elena Apostolou.

Η Julia Kahl, κεντρική ομιλήτρια του Συνεδρίου, σχεδιάστρια και διευθύντρια ενός από τους σημαντικότερους ανεξάρτητους εκδοτικούς οίκους σε σχέση με το design, του Slanted Publishers μίλησε για την αξία των ανεξάρτητων εκδόσεων και τη διαχρονική δυναμική που ακόμα διαθέτουν οι έντυπες εκδόσεις. H Μυρτώ Παναγιωτίδου Digital Creative Director της εταιρείας DeLeMa MCcann Cyprus μίλησε για τo χρονικό μιας ιστορίας 58 δευτερολέπτων από δύο διαφορετικές οπτικές γωνίες. Από τη διαδικασία υλοποίησης της ιδέας στο τελικό αποτέλεσμα. Ο Rob Snow, επαγγελματίας δημιουργός για πάνω από 30 χρόνια, μοιράστηκε με το κοινό του Συνεδρίου τα «επτά μαργαριτάρια της σοφίας» της επαγγελματικής του εμπειρίας. Ο σκηνοθέτης Αλέξης Χαβιάρας παρουσίασε την πολυβραβευμένη Computer Animation ταινία του με τίτλο «Arginoui» και αναφέρθηκε στη σύλληψη, τη διάταξη και τα συστήματα διαχείρισης τρισδιάστατων σκηνικών στοιχείων. O Απόστολος Τσιοβάρας μίλησε για το προσωπικό του όραμα σε σχέση με την οπτική επικοινωνία και το «αστρόπλοιό» του, το CURSOR DESIGN STUDIO, όπου φόρτωσε τις επιθυμίες, τα όνειρα, το πάθος του και ξεκίνησε για τις λεωφόρους τους φωτός. Ο Artdose ή κατά κόσμον Ανδρέας Γλυκερίου παρουσίασε μια διάλεξη βασισμένη σε βίντεο που κάλυπτε το ταξίδι του artdose404 και εστίασε στην καλλιτεχνική διαδικασία ενός κολλάζ και στη δημιουργία της ιδέας. Η Σοφία Χατζήπαπα, καλλιτέχνης και αναπληρώτρια καθηγήτρια Καλών Τεχνών στο Ευρωπαϊκό Πανεπιστήμιο Κύπρου μίλησε για τη μετάβαση από το χειροποίητο στο ψηφιακό και αντίστροφα ή αλλιώς για το πώς μπορούμε να ασπασθούμε τις ατέλειες. Ο Νίκος Γαζετάς, σχεδιαστής με πολλά χρόνια εμπειρίας, απηύθυνε στο κοινό το ερώτημα αν μπορεί το design να αλλάξει τον κόσμο. Απάντησε στο ερώτημα αυτό παρουσιάζοντας το «Thallo app», ένα application που απευθύνεται σε φροντιστές ανθρώπων με άνοια. Η Νάσια Δημητρίου, βραβευμένη γραφίστρια, μίλησε για τη «Μεγάλη Έξοδο», ή αλλιώς για την ξέφρενη πορεία μιας μικρής γραφίστριας που μεγαλώνοντας εξήλθε από το χώρο της διαφήμισης και εισήλθε στον μαγευτικό χώρο του πολιτισμού.

Julia Kahl, keynote speaker of the Conference, designer, and director of one of the most important independent publishing houses in relation to design, Slanted Publishers, spoke about the value of independent publishing and the timeless dynamics that print publications still have. Myrto Panayiotides Digital Creative Director of the company DeLeMa MCcann Cyprus spoke about the timeline of a 58-second story from two different perspectives. From the process of implementing the idea to the final result. Rob Snow, a professional creator for over 30 years, shared with the Conference audience the "seven pearls of wisdom" of his professional experience. Director Alexis Chaviaras presented his multi-award-winning Computer Animation film entitled "Arginoui" and talked about the capture, layout and management systems of 3D props. Apostolos Tsiovaras spoke about his personal vision in relation to visual communication and his "starship", the Cursor Design Studio, where he loaded his desires, dreams, passion and set off for the avenues of light. Artdose aka Andreas Glykeriou presented a video-based lecture that covered the journey of artdose404 and focused on the artistic process of a collage and the creation of the idea. Sophia Hadjipapa, artist and associate professor of Fine Arts at the European University Cyprus, spoke about the transition from hand-made to digital and vice versa, or how we can overcome imperfections. Nikos Gazetas, a designer with many years of experience, addressed the audience with the question of whether design can change the world. He answered this question by presenting the "Thallo app", an application aimed at caregivers of people with dementia. Nasia Demetriou, an award-winning graphic designer, spoke about the "Great Exit", or in other words about the frantic course of a young graphic designer who, growing up, left the field of advertising and entered the magical field of culture.

 

Live Performance

Μετά το πέρας των διαλέξεων ακολούθησε live performance από την ομάδα χορού νέων του London Schoolof Ballet, υπό την καθοδήγηση της καθηγήτριας χορού Βίκυς Αγαπίου, που μέσα από την κίνηση, τη μουσική και το χορό πέρασε το δικό της δυναμικό μήνυμα για τους νέους.

The end of the lectures was followed by a live performance by the youth dance group of the London School of Ballet, under the guidance of dance teacher Vicky Agapiou, who through movement, music and dance conveyed their own dynamic message for young people.

Εγκαίνια της Διεθνούς Έκθεσης Αφίσας & Απονομή Βραβείων

Η Δύναμη των Νέων - The Power of Youth

Το πρόγραμμα του Συνεδρίου συνεχίστηκε με την απονομή βραβείων στους πέντε [5] νικητές του διεθνή διαγωνισμού αφίσας του Graphic Stories και τα εγκαίνια της αντίστοιχης έκθεσης αφισών. 

Οι νέοι, το πιο σημαντικό και δυναμικό τμήμα του πληθυσμού σε κάθε χώρα αποτέλεσε την έμπνευση για τη γενική θεματική του Συνεδρίου και ταυτόχρονα το θέμα του διεθνούς διαγωνισμού και της αντίστοιχης έκθεσης του 9^ου Graphic Stories. Οι νέοι αποτελούν την κινητήριο δύναμη κάθε αλλαγής, κοινωνικής, οικονομικής και πολιτιστικής. Αυτοί διαθέτουν την περιέργεια, τον ιδεαλισμό, τον ενθουσιασμό, το θάρρος, τη δύναμη και τη θέληση να αλλάξουν τον κόσμο. Δεν αποτελούν απλά ένα τμήμα του παγκόσμιου πληθυσμού αλλά τον σημαντικότερο πλούτο του κόσμου αυτού. Είναι το παρόν και το μέλλον της ανθρωπότητας και η ελπίδα για την οικοδόμηση ενός καλύτερου μέλλοντος πιο δίκαιου, πιο ειρηνικού, πιο ελεύθερου, πιο πράσινου, πιο βιώσιμου και χωρίς αποκλεισμούς. H φετινή θεματική, «Η Δύναμη των Νέων» συνέπεσε με τα γεγονότα στην Ελλάδα για το λόγω αυτό, η έκθεση ήταν αφιερωμένη στη μνήμη των θυμάτων του δυστυχήματος στα Τέμπη. 

Ο διαγωνισμός έλαβε συνολικά 880 συμμετοχές από 44 χώρες. Η 12μελής διεθνής κριτική επιτροπή του Graphic Stories επέλεξε τις 50 καλύτερες αφίσες και 5 από αυτές βραβεύτηκαν με δώρα αξίας €40.000. Τα δώρα των νικητών προσέφεραν το Ευρωπαϊκό Πανεπιστήμιο Κύπρου και η εταιρία γραμματοσειρών Parachute Typefoundry. Τα βραβεία του διαγωνισμού φιλοτέχνησε ο σχεδιαστής Χρήστος Γρηγοριάδης - OXRA Design Studio. Η έκθεση αφισών περιλάμβανε τις 50 διακεκριμένες αφίσες του διαγωνισμού πλαισιωμένες από 15 έργα αναγνωρισμένων σχεδιαστών.

Την απονομή στους νικητές του διαγωνισμού έκαναν η Αγγελική Αθανασιάδη, Creative director του Graphic Stories και εκ μέρους του Ευρωπαϊκού Πανεπιστημίου Κύπρου ο κος Σταύρος Σταύρου Καραγιάννη, Κοσμήτορας της Σχολής Ανθρωπιστικών Επιστημών, Κοινωνικών επιστημών & Επιστημών της Εκπαίδευσης του Πανεπιστημίου και ο κος Τάσος Αναστασιάδης, Επίκουρος Καθηγητής.  

Opening of the International Poster Exhibition & Awards Ceremony - The Power of Youth

The Conference program continued with the awarding of prizes to the five [5] winners of the International Poster Contest by Graphic Stories and the opening of the corresponding poster exhibition.

Young people, the most important and dynamic part of the population in each country, were the inspiration for the general theme of the Conference and at the same time the theme of the international poster contest and the corresponding exhibition of the 9th Graphic Stories. Young people are the driving force behind any change, social, economic, and cultural. They possess curiosity, idealism, enthusiasm, courage, strength, and the will to change the world. They are not just a part of the world population but the most important wealth of this world. It is humanity's present and future and the hope for building a better future that has more justice, is more peaceful, has more freedom, is greener, more sustainable, and more inclusive. This year's theme, "The Power of Youth" coincided with the events in Greece, for this reason, the exhibition was dedicated to the memory of the victims of the accident in Tempi.

The competition received a total of 880 entries from 44 countries. The 12-member international jury of Graphic Stories selected the 50 best posters and 5 of them were awarded with prizes worth of €40,000. The prizes for the winners were provided by the European University Cyprus and the font company Parachute Typefoundry. The competition commemorative awards were created by the designer Christos Gregoriades of OXRA Design Studio. The poster exhibition featured the competition's 50 distinguished posters framed by 12 works by acclaimed designers.

The awards to the winners of the competition were presented by Aggeliki Athanasiadi, Creative Director of Graphic Stories and on behalf of the European University Cyprus by Mr. Stavros Stavrou Karayiannis, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities, Social Sciences & Educational Sciences of the University and Mr. Tasos Anastasiadis, assistant professor.

·      Κυπριακή Διάκριση για μαθητές Λυκείου και Τεχνικών Σχολών ΔωροθέαΓρηγορίου και Κυριακή Χαραλάμπους, μαθήτριες από την Τεχνική και Επαγγελματική Σχολή Εκπαίδευσης και Κατάρτισης Μακάριος Γ΄ Λευκωσίας

Στην έκθεση φιλοξενήθηκαν επίσης 8 έργα μαθητών, ηλικίας 9-15 ετών, από τα εργαστήρια «The STEAMers» του Οργανισμού Νεολαίας Κύπρου, υπό την καθοδήγηση της εκπαιδεύτριας τους & Creative director του Graphic Stories, Αγγελικής Αθανασιάδη. Τις αφίσες πλαισίωσαν postcards με θέμα «Η Δύναμη των Νέων», από το εργαστήριο που πραγματοποιήθηκε στο πλαίσιο του φεστιβάλ Νέων του ΟΝΕΚ, τον Σεπτέμβριο του 2022

The exhibition also hosted 8 artworks by students, aged 9-15, from The STEAMers workshops of the Youth Board of Cyprus, under the guidance of their instructor & Creative director of Graphic Stories, Aggeliki Athanasiadi. The posters were framed by postcards with the theme "The Power of Youth", from the workshop held as part of the ONEK Youth Festival, in September 2022.

 

Διαδραστικό Installation

Παράλληλα με τα εγκαίνια της έκθεσης, το κοινό είχε την ευκαιρία να συνεισφέρει σε ένα συλλογικό έργο τέχνης μέσω του διαδραστικού Installation που είχε δημιουργηθεί για το σκοπό αυτό. Σε αυτό υπήρχε ένα χρωματιστό νήμα και το κοινό κλήθηκε να τυλίξει το νήμα γύρω από τους σταθερούς χρωματιστούς στύλους για να δημιουργηθεί ένα δυναμικό και οπτικά ενδιαφέρον αποτέλεσμα που αποτελεί τον αριθμό εννέα, από το 9^ο Διεθνές Συνέδριο Graphic Stories. Στόχος της δράσης αυτής ήταν να αποτελέσει την αφορμή και να ενθαρρύνει το κοινό να συμμετέχει ενεργά στη δημιουργία ενός έργου τέχνης, εκφράζοντας τη δημιουργικότητά του. Για το διαδραστικό installation εργάστηκαν οι: Αγγελική Αθανασιάδη, Τιμοθέα Ρωσσίδου, Χρήστος Γρηγοριάδης, Κύπρος Γεωργίου, Μίλτος Καρράς 

Interactive Installation

Alongside the opening of the exhibition, the public had the opportunity to contribute to a collective work of art through the interactive Installation created for this purpose. In it there was a colored thread, and the audience was asked to wrap the thread around the fixed colored poles to create a dynamic and visually interesting effect that forms the number nine, from the 9th International Graphic Stories Conference. The aim of this action was to provide an opportunity and encourage the public to actively participate in the creation of a work of art, expressing their creativity. The interactive installation was created by: Aggeliki Athanasiadi, Timothea Rossidou, Christos Gregoriades, Kypros Georgiou, Miltos Karras

Graphic Stories Cyprus - Στα καλύτερα φεστιβάλ της Ευρώπης, από την EFA

Το Graphic Stories έχει επιλεγεί στα καλύτερα φεστιβάλ της Ευρώπης από την Ευρωπαϊκή Ένωση Φεστιβάλ, European Festivals Association [EFA] και του απονεμήθηκε η τιμητική σφραγίδα ποιότητας της Ευρώπης EFFE Label για τη χρονική περίοδο 2022-2023. Tο Συνέδριο βραβεύτηκε επίσης για την καινοτομία και την εφευρετικότητα, με το ειδικό σήμα Badge of Invention, ενώ απέσπασε και την ειδική διάκριση Remarkable Arts Festival για το 2021, γεγονός που το κατατάσσει ανάμεσα στις κορυφαίες Ευρωπαϊκές διοργανώσεις που αφορούν τις τέχνες και τον πολιτισμό.


Graphic Stories Cyprus, among the best festivals in Europe!

The Conference on Graphic Design & Visual Communication, Graphic Stories was selected by the European Festivals Association (EFA) as one of the best festivals in Europe and was awarded the Europe’s quality stamp, EFFE Label, for the period 2019-2023. The EFFE (Europe for Festivals, Festivals for Europe) is an initiative launched by the European Union Festival (EFA) and supported by the European Commission and the European Parliament.
