Graphic Stories Cyprus invites higher education students and professionals visual communication designers to create and view printed their own card postal and also to take part in the international poster competition entitled "Nicosia, the city of Utopia". The competition is part of the 3rd Visual Communication Designers Meeting in Cyprus that will take place the weekend between 10-12 of March 2017. The winners will receive €2000 total worth of prizes. The creative idea, conserning the design of the poster, is based on the unique architectural identity of the fortification walls of Nicosia. [EN] Generation X "Adventure without risk is like Disneyland». This is the title of the 29th chapter of the famous book by Douglas Coupland «Generation X: Tales for an Accelerated Culture» and undoubtedly illustrates a characteristic of a whole generation, the «X» generation. Demographically speaking this generation is determined based on the birth date from the mid 1960s until 1980, while ideologically it managed to balance skilfully between the album «Nevermind» of «Nirvana» and «The Battle of Los Angeles» of «Rage Against The Machine ». History scholars argue that in relation to its social dimension, successive generations fall into one of four basic archetypes and represent one of the four repeated cycles of social cycles. The archetypes are the prophet, the nomad, the hero and the artist and the cycles are the peak, the wakening, the doubt and the crisis. Η Οπτική Επικοινωνία και κατ' επέκταση το Design έχουν συνδέσει άμεσα την εξέλιξή τους με τα σύγχρονα επιτεύγματα της τεχνολογίας της πληροφορικής. Η μετάβαση από τις παραδοσιακές τεχνικές και μεθόδους στη χρήση των υπολογιστών σε κάθε στάδιο του σχεδιασμού και της παραγωγής, ήταν μόνο η απαρχή της επανάστασης, ενώ χρήση του διαδικτύου και η ραγδαία εξάπλωση του παγκόσμιου ιστού το επιστέγασμά της. Η Τυπογραφία είναι η τέχνη και η τεχνική της οργάνωσης των στοιχειών ενός κειμένου, γραμμάτων, αριθμών, σημείων στίξης και άλλων που αποσκοπεί στο να κάνει τον γραπτό λόγο ευκρινή, ευανάγνωστο και ελκυστικό προς τον κάθε αναγνώστη. Η οργάνωση και η διάταξη των στοιχείων αυτών περιλαμβάνει την επιλογή των γραμματοσειρών, το μέγεθός τους, τα μήκη των γραμμών και τα κενά ανάμεσά τους, τις αποστάσεις των λέξεων και των γραμμάτων.
